J.K. McAndrews brings to the Greater Houston area an exceptional record of leadership and strategic vision with over 40 years of experience working within the financial services industry as a financial professional, Sales Manager, and General Agent. He began his career as a -financial professional with Mutual of New York in 1982, became a Sales Manager in his own district office in 1990, and assumed the leadership of the Houston office as Managing Director in 1998. He has spent the last 22 years as President and CEO of Strategic Financial Group, a MassMutual firm, which has served the Houston area since 1903. Under J.K.’s leadership, Strategic Financial Group has grown from fewer than 30 financial professionals to more than 100.

As President and CEO, J.K. is responsible for the overall management of the firm as well as developing the firm’s corporate relationships and alliances. In 2015, the MassMutual Foundation, with the assistance of Strategic Financial Group and in partnership with the Houston Rockets, established the FutureSmart Program as part of this endeavor. This program is designed to promote financial education amongst students and deliver compelling messages and tools to empower these youths to start thinking about their financial future. A second goal is to support local agencies by driving awareness and promoting business development and networking opportunities with local communities and businesses. He is also heavily involved in attracting and recruiting experienced advisors and the development of the leadership team. The Houston agency has won seven Chairman’s Trophies including their second Gold Bowl in 2010 and four Crystal Achievement awards (2007, 2010, 2011, 2012). Since 1982, J.K. has been a member of NAIFA and holds the distinction of being a Finseca Founding Firm member.

J.K.’s outlook for the firm is to reflect the diversity of Houston, one of the most diverse metropolises in the country with a demographic composition of 40% women and 50% multicultural. He has enacted several initiatives to achieve this goal, emphasizing on Houston’s growing Hispanic market. This initiative began the partnership with J.K. and Dr. Laura Murillo, President and CEO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. With locations in Central Houston, Friendswood, and a burgeoning presence in the Woodlands area J.K.’s vision and focus is to ensure that everyone in the Greater Houston area has an opportunity to work with a Strategic Financial Group, a MassMutual firm professional.

J.K. has been an active member of MassMutual’s General Agent’s Association for many years, serving as the chair of several committees. Moreover, he held the position of President during 2014-2015 and is once again serving in the role of President for 2023-2024.

J.K. is married to Margaret, and as a couple, they proudly share two sons: Kevin, who became a part of Strategic Financial Group, a MassMutual firm in 2014, subsequently rising to the esteemed position of Partner. Kevin is now married to Emily. Their second son, Kyle, is actively engaged in residential real estate development in Houston. The joy in Kevin’s life expanded on March 18, 2020, with the arrival of a granddaughter named Poppy, followed by the blessing of a grandson named Luke on June 3, 2022.
