Bio

Miguel Dacones brings a unique and people-centered background to his role as a Financial Services Professional with Strategic Financial Group. His path has been anything but one-dimensional, from working in food service and becoming an assistant manager at a hotpot restaurant in Chinatown, to supporting civic engagement and advocacy efforts in the nonprofit space, to working in real estate, marketing, and content creation.

Each experience has helped shape the way Miguel works with people today. He understands that every person’s story is different, and he believes good financial guidance starts with listening, building trust, and helping people feel more confident about the decisions in front of them.

Before entering financial services, Miguel worked as a Community Organizer with OCA Greater Houston, where he supported the Asian American and Pacific Islander community across southwest Houston, including Alief, Fort Bend County, and Sugar Land. In that role, he helped lead voter education and outreach efforts that reached more than 20,000 households and 35,000 individuals across the Greater Houston area. That work strengthened his passion for creating access, whether to civic participation, leadership opportunities, community resources, or financial education.

Miguel also brings a strong foundation in real estate and finance through the University of Houston’s Real Estate program, where he studied commercial real estate, asset management, and finance through coursework and hands-on projects. He has passed the SIE and Series 66 exams through self-study and is currently working toward his Series 7.

What drives Miguel most is his “why”: his family, his loved ones, and the future he is building. Born on a U.S. naval base in Yokosuka, Japan, Miguel comes from a military family and spent the first six years of his life overseas before relocating to the United States. His father served in the U.S. Navy, and his mother works with the Defense Contract Management Agency under the Department of Defense. That background helped shape his discipline, values, and desire to serve others.

Faith and personal growth are also a big part of Miguel’s life. He is motivated by the belief that he is called to pursue meaningful work and make a positive impact on people’s lives, whether through their finances, mindset, or personal growth.

Outside of work, Miguel enjoys bodybuilding and spending time in the gym, with plans to compete one day. He also enjoys fishing, hiking, playing soccer, photography, videography, anime, chess, concerts, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with his girlfriend, family, and friends. He is also deeply committed to self-development through reading, meditation, visualization, journaling, and building strong daily habits.

At his core, Miguel is passionate about helping people move forward with more clarity and confidence. For him, financial planning and community work are connected by the same purpose: helping people gain access to knowledge, opportunity, and a stronger future.
