Mia James

Mia James is a budding philanthropist and financial self-care coach with a passion for holistic wellness including financial well-being. As one year came to a close and others were looking forward to the new year, she found herself in a difficult place. She was burned out, lacked energy, and wasn’t on top of her game. The funny thing is that on the outside it appeared that she had it all together–the car, the house, the promotions, the business. But on the inside, she was falling apart. She also began to move away from the strong money habits she knew like the back of her hand, which led to accumulating debt. Believe it or not, money habits are not just about dollars and cents; they are an outward manifestation of inner “stuff,” whether good or bad. After realizing that her full-time job contributed to her difficulties, she quit her job to follow her dream and help women like herself create financial strategies to help ensure their dreams can become a reality. Since starting her business a few years ago, she’s helped over 100 women get out of debt, purchase a home, expedite their emergency savings, and set up a foundational plan for protecting their assets. Mia is also a certified aerial, Restorative and yin yoga instructor, a 200-hour registered hatha yoga instructor, aromatherapist, and licensed financial professional. As the founder of Beyond the Busyness LLC, her mission is to redefine self-care by creating a holistic definition that encompasses emotional, physical, and financial well-being. Beyond the Busyness LLC exists to help high-achieving women of color examine their relationship to themselves and self-care, make and maintain any mindset shifts, and develop a healthy relationship to their finances, emotions, and physical wellness. Additionally, she is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She volunteers with the Economic Legacy committee hosting financial education workshops and the Health and Wellness Committee to promote healthy habits in the African American community.
